Dear Friends and Players:
A warm welcome to the 62nd Atlantic Coast Squash Racquets Championship! The tournament, formerly held at Chalfonte-Haddon Hall Racquet Club, has a long tradition of exciting squash and outstanding hospitality. Over the years, many of the game’s greatest players – Charlie Brinton, the Howe brothers, Hunter Lott, and Diehl Mateer, to name a few – have participated in this event. In keeping with tradition, we are once again offering hardball singles. However, in a break from tradition, we are introducing doubles on our two beautiful doubles courts. Hopefully, this will be the format for many years to come.
As most of you are aware, entry fees do not cover the cost of staging an event of this magnitude. Please join us in thanking the patrons listed below for their support. They have made possible the hosting of this event.
Thank you for attending the USSRA’s oldest invitational hardball tournament. If there is anything we can do to make your visit more enjoyable, do not hesitate to contact a member of the Committee.
Very truly yours,
PAUL T. CHAN Tournament Chairman and WILLIAM D. SYKES Tournament Co-Chairman

Below is the singles leagues and doubles ladder for this year. The singles match schedule for the first half of the year is also included below. To increase participation and cut down on defaults, we are asking one person from each line to call the other people on that line to make sure everyone has scheduled their matches. Previously only the captains did this, and the job was too much work. Hopefully with more people chipping in the job will be done better.
The people on the lines being asked to do this are: Smallwood, Rayfield, Fenwick, DeDomenicis, Taylor, Croce, and Off. (I don't have everyone's address, so maybe Tom can forward this on to Croce and Off.) If anyone of you has a problem doing this, let me know and we'll pick another person on your line to make the calls. If a player feels he or she is on the wrong line, then they can challenge up after the first half of the year. Otherwise, we'd like to start with the teams as it.
The league committee will make all decisions on defaults, challenges etc. Play starts the week of December 4th. I would ask Anthony G to post the teams and schedules on our Website as soon as possible. Bill S. will post the teams and schedules, and call those who don't have e-mail. The doubles ladder can start right away. Teams can challenge anyone they want. We will keep records of the matches, and we will have a handicap playoff at the end of the year, with only those teams that participate in a minimum number of challenges being eligible for such playoffs.
We will make further announcements on this as we go. We will start the Wednesday and Friday night doubles nights, starting Wednesday, December 6. People can just show up or they can bring a playing partner. We will have refreshments, and I expect that once people start putting these nights into their regular schedule we will build this up to a very popular event. We will make it whatever the doubles players want it to be, so we will be taking suggestions along the way. Thanks again for all of your help, and best of luck to all the players.
